Our Charitable Objects

ACORRN - Action Radiotherapy’s activities are legally determined by its charitable objectives, which have been developed by the ACORRN Scientific Committee in partnership with stakeholder organisations and overseen by the UK Charity Commission.  ACORRN - Action Radiotherapy’s charitable objectives are:

To promote, support and encourage research into radiotherapy, radiobiology and allied subjects, and the dissemination of the useful results of such research by such actions as:

  • Promoting and facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers and practitioners in radiotherapy and its allied subjects;
  • Informing patients and the public about practice and research in radiotherapy and its allied subjects, and engaging patients and the public in the development of research projects;
  • Awarding grants as appropriate.

To advance and benefit the practice of radiotherapy and its allied subjects to relieve sickness and preserve good health by such actions as:

  • Promoting and facilitating multidisciplinary networking and sharing of expertise and best practice;
  • Promoting and encouraging the study of the science and practice of radiotherapy and its allied subjects;
  • Promoting and facilitating increased involvement of allied professions;
  • Facilitating development and dissemination of best practices in radiotherapy and its allied subjects;
  • Disseminating knowledge concerning all aspects of the science and practice of radiotherapy and its allied subjects;
  • Promoting and facilitating education and training in the research and practice of radiotherapy and its allied subjects.
