Board of Trustees
As a charity, ACORRN - Action Radiotherapy is required by law to be managed by a Board of Trustees. The Trustees are responsible for directing the affairs of the charity, ensuring that it is managed responsibly and transparently, in line with the objectives of the charity, and with the charity’s governing document. Trustees must ensure that the charity is solvent and that the charity’s income is spent in accordance with the wishes of donors. Trustees are responsible to the UK Charity Commission in carrying out their duties and are bound by UK Charity Law.
ACORRN’s Board of Trustees hold regular telephone conferences, and report directly to the Scientific Committee (formerly the Steering Committee). In the main, Trustees direct the fundraising activities of the charity, the Scientific Committee determines how income should be spent to provide the best support for ACORRN’s members.
The founding Board of Trustees was drawn from the ACORRN Steering Committee, with one lay member. The Board of Trustees will be expanded to ensure optimal representation and management. Each Trustee will serve for 2 years, but will be eligible for re-election after this time.
