Role
ACORRN is a UK cancer network specifically devoted to bringing together all disciplines involved with radiotherapy and to support radiotherapy research, dissemination and implementation. ACORRN is an inclusive and organisation which exists solely to identify, understand and meet the needs of its members to facilitate delivery of high quality radiotherapy research and clinical practice. ACORRN is not a stand-alone organisation; it seeks to work in partnership with radiotherapy stakeholders and the wider radiotherapy/radiobiology research communities.
ACORRN’s vision is to support comprehensive clinical radiotherapy research with the aim of making the UK once again internationally competitive and/or leading. ACORRN will also support the translation of the results of this research into improved treatments for patients, enabling more patients to be cured, with fewer side effects. ACORRN has a clear Strategic Plan for the next 5 years which will help achieve this vision; by funding high quality research and facilitating national networking, in partnership with national radiotherapy and radiobiology stakeholders.
ACORRN has been re-launched as a charity (ACORRN - Action Radiotherapy), and now seeks to evolve its remit to prioritise research funding, and to include education, training, research and patient involvement. Via the website we hope to reach a wide audience, facilitating an increase in the quality and quantity of radiotherapy research. More information on how you can get involved is available in the How ACORRN can help you section.
Remember that ACORRN is a charity, and are dependent on charitable donations to carry out our activities. If you would like to find out more about how ACORRN spends its charitable funds, or to get involved in fundraising, please visit our Charity section.
