Research Topic Specific Networks
Radiotherapy is a highly complex area, requiring collaboration between multiple and varied disciplines – e.g. Clinicians, Medical Physicists, Radiographers, Radiobiologists, Radiologists and Statisticians. At the same time, the research model in general is working towards nationally (and internationally) collaborative multidisciplinary working, and in many cases this is a condition of research funding. In practice, collaborative research can present financial and logistical challenges, particularly to isolated individuals.
ACORRN is committed to providing support to specialists working in different radiotherapy research areas. The Research Topic Specific Networks are designed to vitalise and link individuals and groups from different centres and/or disciplines with others who have complementary research interests, combining clinical and scientific research of the highest quality to produce world class collaborative research. The Research Topic Specific Networks are designed to work in partnership with other radiotherapy research organisations providing grass roots support for generation of new research ideas. Existing Research Topic Specific Networks include:
- Altered fractionation
- Bystander effects/delayed effects
- Hypoxia
- Immune augmentation
- Late effects/normal tissue effects
- Particle therapy
- Radiobiology modelling
- Radiogenomics/predictive assays/DNA repair
- Radiotherapy with chemotherapy
- Technical radiotherapy advances
ACORRN provides financial and operational support for research development telephone conferences and meetings to facilitate collaborative working and original thinking – with the aim of developing high quality projects and applications for external grant funding.
For more detail on existing Research Topic Specific Networks or information on how you can either join or set up a new group, please visit the Research Network section of this website. Access is restricted to registered members. If you are not yet a member, you can register free today.
